The Purpose of this New Blog (Updated Periodically):

Are you tired of seeing Raising Dion Season 2 clickbait articles that promise to tell you the release date, and you have to read until the end of the article to find out they don't know when it releases either?

I play Esperanza (Dion's best friend) and I am tired of seeing these articles upset fans (who have already waited long enough, as season 2 was delayed by a pandemic), and while I can't "spill the beans" on the release date (only Netflix can legally announce that - I had to sign a contract), I will periodically be posting behind the scenes videos here of Raising Dion Season 2 and correcting some of the errors reported in some of these articles.

Season 2 Misinformation:

As of June 2021 anyone claiming a release date is guessing or misinformed, we are wrapping up certain parts of the post-production, but there has been no official word of a release date announced.

On May 20th, while I was still in Atlanta, I did my first ADR session for Season 2. ADR refers to "Automated Dialogue Replacement", the process of re-recording dialogue after the filming process to improve the original audio quality (i.e. background noise ruined "the take") or to make changes to the originally scripted dialogue. I will be doing my last ADR session on June 21, 2021, so that is a small milestone for the post-production phase of getting the show ready.

One of the first bad articles I saw about season 2 included a section about an actress (who I won't name) claiming to play Dion's grandmother in Season 2 (she had even listed herself on the IMDB.com page for Season 2 of Raising Dion), but that role doesn't even exist in Season 2. Another actor also falsely listed himself as having a minor role in Season 2 on IMDB, but that has also been removed.

Season 2 Details:

Raising Dion Season 2 New Characters

However, here is a list of the new characters announced for Season 2 of Raising Dion as described in a Deadline article, "Daytime Emmy winner Rome Flynn (How to Get Away with Murder, Dear White People) will play Tevin Wakefield, a former long-distance runner and Olympic track coach who becomes Dion’s trainer and mentor. He is protective yet playful and develops a close relationship with both Dion and Nicole.

Aubriana Davis (Genius: Aretha) will portray Janelle Carr, a 15-year-old girl who has been labeled destructive and dangerous. Janelle’s mother brings her to Biona in hope of managing her “behavioral issues” once and for all. As she forms a bond with Nicole and Dion, Janelle begins to feel heard and valued for the first time in her life.

Here is a video of me meeting Aubriana at the Raising Dion Season 2 Virtual Table Reading:

Tracey Bonner (Sweet Magnolias) will play Simone Carr, Janelle’s mother, who is frightened for her daughter’s future and just wants her to live a normal life.

Josh Ventura (P-Valley) is David Marsh, the new VP Operations for Biona, who hopes to rekindle his personal relationship with Suzanne Wu (Ali Ahn)."

Raising Dion Season 1 Cliffhanger, will Brayden (the Son of the Farmer) Return?

Brayden Mills played by Griffin Robert Faulkner
As the Deadline article revealed, the creepy/evil son of the farmer, Brayden Mills (Griffin Robert Faulkner), who we see at the end of season 1 will return for season 2 and has been upgraded to be a series regular! Don't you wonder what role he will play in Season 2?

How Many Episodes Will Raising Dion Season 2 Have?

I have seen lots of speculation on the number of episodes Season 2 of Raising Dion will have, the Deadline article also reveals that Season 2 will consist of 8 episodes. I know some people were speculating that there would be a lot more episodes because of the long delay, but the delay was due to the pandemic, not because of an increased amount of episodes. Shows with lots of special effects like Raising Dion and Stranger Things normally have seasons that are 8 episodes long on Netflix. While this may seem like bad news to some fans, let me assure you that Season 2 is going "BIG" and you will not be let down with what we have packed into these 8 episodes!

How Many Episodes will Esperanza be in?

I am glad to report that I will be in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE! I can't wait for people to see my character in the last episode!

My Next Blog post?

What should I do my next blog post about? I can't give away the release date or the plot (or anything considered a spoiler), but is there anything you want to see me post about? Any personal questions about me working on Season 2? Any rumors to squash that I missed?
